Typhoon rock boots

these boots have proven the reputation that preceeds them. after reading some very favourable reviews i decided to take the plunge and buy some, despite their considerably higher price tag than a plethora of other options. what i love about them is the chunkyness of them which translates into extra protection, grip and comfort. i opted for the model with the integral neoprene socks. the only comment i will make is that my advice would be to consider buying them two sizes up from your normal size if you’re going to wear them with a (surface) drysuit. the reason being that if you’re going to wear a ‘normal’ pair of cotton or woollen socks within your integrated drysuit socks, it may become a little tight as it did with me. the reason for wearing ‘normal’ socks in my drysuit is twofold; warmth and mitigating the risk of rubbing a hole in the neoprene with a toenail. i ended up having ,to buy another pair after the first pair proved a little tight. now one of my sons uses the first pair for cliff jumping! i bought mine as i enjoy sailing my 3.8m sib with a 20hp outboard around the scottish seas and lochs, hopping out of and in to the boat wherever we beach. the boots are perfect for clambering over rocky beaches as the soles are so thick the rocks don’t bother you. the higher ankle on the boot also offers some extra protection. highly recommend for the purpose.
