Description:

In competitive sailing and windsurfing, getting a good start is about being in the right place at the right time. Suunto M3 helps make sure that that is exactly where you are.

To get you to the right place on the start line - and at the right time, Suunto M3 not only helps you to determine the favored end of the start line, but it also displays the time to the start line in connection with the start timer to help you cross the line at just the right moment.

Loud signals and large numbers, together with a race timer for easy synchronization with the race committee, mean that you wont be caught napping when its time for the off.

Deeper Understanding

Before the race, you can make practice starts to estimate the time to the start line from a chosen position. Then, if the official signal is given five minutes before the start, set the countdown timer to five minutes and start it at the official signal. This way, youll know exactly when to set off from your chosen position in order to cross the start line right on time. Once the timer is synchronized, you can lock the synchro to ensure that the timer synchronization isnt changed by mistake.

Suunto M3 also helps you determine the favored end of the start line so that youre not just there at the right time, but at the right place too. By using the boats compass and the Suunto M3s rotating bezel, it is simple and quick to decide which end of the line to head for.

Once out on the course, Suunto M3 continues to provide assistance by allowing you to calculate the bearing to the next race marker, before you reach the turning point, and compare it to the wind direction. This way, you can steer the correct course as soon as possible, giving you a valuable advantage over your competitors.

You can also mark the wind direction with the rotating bezel to track wind shifts, monitor the race time, and add time stamps (interval times). After the race, you can check Suunto M3s logbook to review the race times and time stamps.
